I attended the media day at the Ozone Zipline Adventures. I rode four of the lines including the two newest over the State Scenic Little Miami River. We started at Camp Kern – the first line is 1,300 feet long and 200 feet over the river. You land on Fort Ancient property and the next line is 1,080 feet back to the Camp Kern side.
“They just completed lines over the State Scenic Little Miami River. It’s 79 steps to the top of the tower. After a safety inspection of the harness, you’ll be clipped onto the zip line. It’s only one small step off the platform, relax with the safety harness and soar 200 feet above the river. It is breathtaking beauty of one of the most sce-nic locations in southwest Ohio.
The sounds of silence, the inspiring beauty of nature, the panoramic view of the Jeremiah Morrow Bridge. This is Ohio’s tallest bridge over the Little Miami River gorge, which will surround you. The command from the landing tower to grab the rope will jolt you back to reality. It all hap-pens in less than one minute but the pictures in your mind will last a lifetime. Or until your next ride.”
Everyone will need to be able to climb the 79 steps – it is a tower with wide steps and sturdy new rails. Not a race. There is another section that requires a 20-yard downhill trail walk and then crossing a suspension bridge to the next tower. The bridge has high rope/cable sides with wooden flooring. Your harness is clipped to an overhead cable. Throughout the adventure you are always clipped with at least one tether line even while on the platforms. If they move you out – they clip the new line before removing the other line. Total safety and tons of fun!
